As we get busy and stressed, we tend to make poor nutritional choices that can actually increase our stress levels and cause other problems. Getting good nutrition and maintaining a more healthy diet habit, your body, not to mention your stress level, will feel the difference!

As our society becomes more health-conscious, there has been an increased focus on the importance of exercise. Many people exercise to control weight and get in better physical condition to become more healthy or physically attractive, but exercise and stress management are also closely linked. Tai Chi can be an extremely effective stress reliever

What are we are learning in the new term?

Summer is coming.   Our program will be designed to meet the need of our body.   We are going to learn China national standard Qigong 8 piece of silk.

Chinese medicine believes human body goes with nature, let Qigong 8 piece of silk accompany you in a cooling down condition to overcome the heat and have a safe season in summer.

What is the different between traditional Qigong 8 piece of silk and China national standard 8 piece of silk?

Chinese government gather together Tai Chi and Qigong specialist together, from tractional and professors from universities, using modern technology through many tests, based on and in heritage traditional Qigong 8 piece of silk and develop some new.   Basically the names are still the same; there are some changes to make it easier for people to master the skills.

What is 8 pieces of silk (brocade) Qigong?

The Baduanjin is one of the most common forms of Chinese qigong used as exercise. Variously translated as Eight Pieces of Brocade, Eight Section Brocade, Eight Silken Movements and others, the name of the form generally refers to how the eight individual movements of the form characterize and impart a silken quality (like that of a piece of brocade) to the body and its energy. The Baduanjin is primarily designated as a form of medical qigong, meant to improve health. This is in contrast to religious or martial forms of qigong. However, this categorization does not preclude the form's use by martial artists as a supplementary exercise, and this practice is frequent.

Names of the 8 pieces of silk Qigong forms

1.    Two Hands Hold up the Heavens regulating the sanjiao

2.    Drawing the Bow to Shoot the Hawk (or Vulture)

3.    Separate Heaven and Earth strengthen spleen and stomach

6.    Touching the feet to strengthen kidney

7.    Punch to build up energy and circle with liver system

8.    Bouncing on the toes seven times, regulating the whole body

This exercise started from the Song Dynasty. The Pivot of the Way (Dao Shi) (c. 1150) describes an archaic form of this qigong.

There is a story creation to the semi-legendary Chinese folk hero General Yue Fei, and describe it as being created as a form of exercise for his soldiers. The legend states he taught the exercise to his men to help keep their bodies strong and well-prepared for battle.

History and modern technology have approved that Qigong and Tai Chi is one of the best alternative medicine.  Its theory is based on Chinese traditional medicine Yin and Yang balance.
